This week, Westgate Resorts casino and sportsbook operator unveiled their fresh, all-encompassing WestgateCARES program. The programme provides a guide for how the organisation can reopen its services safely with detailed procedures that match, and in most cases exceed, the guidelines imposed by the government.
Westgate also announced that all of its standard operating procedures and policies for WestgateCARES would be made freely available on its website to help other companies develop their own procedures.
The organisation has mobilised a dedicated team of experts from the very beginning of the COVID-19 crisis to rapidly establish and enforce detailed procedures to protect its guests and team members, including advanced cleaning techniques, stringent personal hygiene protocols and a long list of operating procedures required to minimise the risk of this virus.
COO Mark Waltrip said: “From day one of this crisis, every decision we made was based on one simple premise: how do we protect our team members, guests and the local community?
“Just as important, we recognise that many businesses may not have Westgate’s extensive resources to develop such comprehensive procedures, and it is our hope that sharing this vital information will help everyone reopen safely and reduce the spread of this terrible epidemic.”
Many of the procedures that would be made available include: restaurant and spa operating procedures; contactless curbside hotel check-in; improved sanitising requirements for all guest quarters, common spaces, and team member areas; how to build your own personal protective equipment (PPE); guest and team member screening protocols; and others.
Waltrip added: “We have had a very successful track record of preventing the spread of the virus at our resorts, but we recognise that we are all in this together and the entire business community is only as strong as our weakest link.
“We are also hopeful that other businesses will do the same so we can all learn from each other and protect our community.”
