FGSA Publish Four White Papers Outlining Sports Betting Myths

This week the Fantasy Sports & Gaming Association (FSGA) published four white papers outlining the advantages and common myths of online sports betting.

Titled Sports Betting Must Be Mobile, the papers aim to help lawmakers and key stakeholders understand the effects of mobile sports wagering. Crucially, they reinforce the conviction of the FSGA that mobile access should be a key component of the sports betting system of any State.

People today, as the white papers illustrate, want ease in their daily lives, and those who want to bet on sports are no different. According to the association, mobile sports wagering does more than simply offer customers a better experience.

FSGA President Paul Charchian explained: “Sports betting in the US needs to offer mobile options if it’s going to truly combat the illegal market, maximise tax revenue and offer the best consumer protection measures. The FSGA’s series of white papers make a very compelling case for mobile sports betting and clear up many misconceptions.”

The first white paper discusses The Case for Mobile Sports Betting by outlining revenue prospects, key regulatory issues, and advantages in the battle against the illegal market.

The second explains how mobile sports betting operates with casinos as gaming revenue in brick and mortar casinos has actually increased significantly in conjunction with the growth of legal online sports betting, the association said.

The third white paper discusses how mobile sports betting provides the best protection for customers by improving player recognition, providing voluntary and involuntary methods of exclusion, and enabling access to problem gambling services readily available.

The final paper shows how mobile sports betting is a positive feature for state lotteries by showing that state lottery revenue has increased in tandem with legal sports betting.
