Bettor Safe, a nationwide initiative to warn customers about the dangers of betting on illicit websites and the rewards of legal and supervised gambling choices if they chose to wager, has been initiated by Conscious Gaming, an independent philanthropic organisation founded by GeoComply.
Bettor Safe New Jersey and Bettor Safe Pennsylvania are two state-specific programmes accompanying the nationwide launch, with the firm stating a vision of establishing a footprint in other regions in the future.
Bettor Safe seeks to allow individuals to differentiate between managed and unregulated platforms by using a multi-channel strategy that will target users through commercials, animations, an educational platform, and state-specific tools.
Seth Palansky, Conscious Gaming VP of corporate social responsibility and communications said: “Bettor Safe underscores Conscious Gaming’s commitment to consumer protection and safety by directly educating individuals about the risks of unregulated online betting.
“This campaign comes at a pivotal moment when American sports fans are gearing up for the NCAA basketball tournament amid a pandemic that continues to push individuals online.
“Now more than ever we must educate consumers and equip them with the tools to make more informed decisions about online betting.”
According to a poll of 500 adults conducted by Conscious Gaming on behalf of the Bettor Safe initiative, 25 percent of New Jersey residents and more than 30 percent of Pennsylvania residents are unsure if online betting is legal in their state.
Furthermore, about 75 percent of people of both regions couldn’t tell the difference between a legal and illegal betting place, or weren’t sure whether they could.
Protection and security
However, 42 percent of those polled who bet online said that protection and security are the most critical factors to them.
The executive director of the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, Kevin O’Toole, added: “Educating Pennsylvanians about the security and safety advantages of legal online betting is critical.
“Approved operators in Pennsylvania have been vetted and they meet high regulatory standards which permits consumers to wager on legal sites, with the confidence that their funds and identity are secure and that regulated websites will be responsible and accountable.
“The Bettor Safe campaign is an important resource to empower consumers to identify and use these regulated sites in Pennsylvania.”
