Score Media and Gaming Inc has gained consumer rights to sell mobile sports betting in Illinois through a partnership with Caesars Entertainment Inc’s Harrah’s Joliet Hotel & Casino.
The business plans to open its mobile sportsbook, theScore Bet, in the Prairie State in the second half of calendar 2021, assuming it receives all necessary licences and permits from the Illinois Gaming Board.
John Levy, Chairman and CEO, theScore said: “Gaining market access to Illinois is a significant development that will bring our award-winning mobile sportsbook to one of the most populous states.
“Caesars is a giant in the casino-entertainment industry and we’re thrilled to have reached this agreement to extend theScore Bet’s footprint into another key new market.”
Caesars will earn a share of revenue generated by Score Bet’s mobile sports betting activities in Illinois under the terms of the arrangement, subject to certain annual minimum guaranteed numbers. Caesars will now be reimbursed for some charges and licence fees, according to theScore. The deal is for a 10-year initial period, with a 10-year expiration term at theScore’s discretion.
theScore Bet is currently available in four states – New Jersey, Colorado, Indiana, and Iowa – and offers sports enthusiasts a streamlined cross-state experience as it spreads across the United States with a single smartphone app with multi-state wallet capabilities.
It’s a robust mobile sports betting offering with a wide range of pre-game and in-play betting options for all major sports leagues and competitions, as well as a wide range of bet formats.
