Betsson Becomes Chile’s National Team Sponsor Ahead Of World Cup Campaign

Betsson has been the first official betting partner of Chile’s national team, which is preparing to qualify for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

The Betsson brand has signed a contract with the Federacion de Futbol de Chile (FFC) until December 2022, joining Nike, Coca-Cola, Banco Santander, and Claro supermarkets as La Roja’s major sponsors.

In its sponsorship statement, Betsson proclaimed: “Betsson will accompany La Roja throughout its qualifying journey for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. For Betsson, the Chilean national team represents an outstanding brand not only on a sports level but also as a strong social element.” 

The Stockholm-listed operator is focusing on rapid expansion in South America, with early limited business entries planned in Chile and Brazil.

Chile’s Ministry of Finance was charged in February with drafting a federal bill to create a regulated online gaming system for sportsbook and online casino services.

Passion for football

Andrea Rossi, Commercial Director Latin America at Betsson said: “The passion that the Chileans have for football is one of the strongest we’ve seen in Latin America.

“Through this partnership with the Chile National Football Team we want to add value to the football fans in the country, support the National Team in Copa America and be part of the exciting World Cup journey and share the hope to see Chile qualify for their tenth appearance in the World Cup tournament.”

Betsson has signed retired captain Iván Zamorano as the first Chilean brand ambassador, in addition to being a principal associate of La Roja.

Chile is currently ranked fifth in CONMEBOL qualification. The squad is looking for a top-four finish to escape an inter-confederation play-off and qualify directly for the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

Federacion de Futbol de Chile Marketing Manager Sebastián Iturriaga said: “We are very happy to have Betsson as the new digital sponsor of La Roja. It is a company with a great presence in sports worldwide and with significant growth in recent years. Undoubtedly this alliance will be beneficial for both parties.”
