Wind Creek Hospitality Joins Race For Virginia Casino Build

Wind Creek Hospitality, after formally sending a plan to the city of Richmond, has officially joined the race to build a casino resort in Virginia.

The group intends to act as their chosen casino gaming operator to develop, construct and run a destination resort in the area, with Alabama’s Poarch Band of Creek Indians looking to expand its gaming operations.

Arthur Mothershed, EVP of business development and government affairs at Wind Creek Hospitality said: “Wind Creek Hospitality is excited to be considered for this project.

Unmatched edge against competition

“We operate several regional and destination casino resorts domestically and in the Caribbean, and feel that our expertise in gaming, our focus on diversity and strongly partnering with the communities we serve gives us an unmatched edge against our competition.”

The group has planned a two-stage $541 million project containing 100,000 square feet of casino gaming space with 2,500 slot machines and 120 table games, two 252 room hotel buildings, seven food and beverage stores, a spa, indoor pool and leisure centre, and a family-friendly entertainment centre of 67,000 square feet.

“It is a priority of Wind Creek to identify where the community needs are greatest, and the location WCH has selected combines our goal to create jobs in an underserved area, while providing convenience to the property for our valued guests,” Mothershed added.

Other submissions

Yesterday, ahead of a national vote on the project later in the year, the Pamunkey Indian Tribe submitted its $350m plan to own and run a casino resort in Richmond, Virginia.

This was followed by Urban One teaming up with Colonial Downs Group for its plan, with their visions announced earlier in the week by both Bally’s Corporation and Cordish Companies, and Golden Nugget Hotels & Casinos have recently joined the fray.

Wind Creek Hospitality is an entity of the Creek Indians Poarch Band that runs the gaming facilities of the Tribe, including Wind Creek Atmore, Wind Creek Wetumpka, Wind Creek Montgomery, Wind Creek Bethlehem, Nevada Wa She Shu Casino, Renaissance Aruba Resort & Casino, Renaissance Curacao Resort & Casino,, as well as Alabama and Florida racetracks.
