Yggdrasil Secures Finnish Game IP Licencing Agreement With Veikkaus

A game IP licencing agreement with Finnish gaming operator Veikkaus concerning the retail sector has been secured by online casino solutions provider Yggdrasil.

Through the agreement, Yggdrasil will repurpose and provide slot games through the company’s patented video lottery terminals for the Veikkaus retail estate in Finland.

On the enhanced partnership, Jan Hagelberg, VP of casino games at Veikkaus, said: “While known for being an operator that delivers top-notch player protection ecosystem and a full portfolio of casino, betting and lottery games in all channels, Veikkaus is also a technology company with fully integrated proprietary gaming platform and product suite with integrated omnichannel solution. 

“So far, the retail VLT distribution has been dedicated to our in-house content only, but we are now ready to host a technical pipeline that enables trusted online partners and third party studios to supply their games to our retail customers. 

“We’ve chosen Yggdrasil to be our first partner to pilot this because of their innovative content, proven technical capability and capacity to deliver swift time-to-market with Veikkaus team. We are excited to expand our strong partnership from online to cover also retail.”

In complete compliance with regulatory requirements, Yggdrasil’s first retail games are scheduled to go live in Finland via the aforementioned retail network in the middle of next year.

Yggdrasil, which already supplies Veikkaus with slot content on the online channel, states that Veikkaus has already achieved early proof of concept, with the state-owned operator posting a GGR of EUR 1.6 billion in 2019.
