YGAM Gains Gold Award For Positive Employment Practises

Investors in People has awarded the Young Gamers & Gamblers Education Trust (YGAM) a gold accreditation for its supportive job practises.

Gold certifications are granted to organisations where all workers, from CEOs to apprentices, take active control of “established policies” and help them “come to life.”

‘Great place to work’

YGAM was lauded in an Investors in People survey for building a “great place to work,” as well as finding out how “people’s passion and loyalty to YGAM shines through.”

Lee Willows, Chief Executive of YGAM said: “Achieving the Gold Standard is testament to the hard-working team and is an illustration of how our People Strategy has really become embedded in the YGAM.

“It is our people that make YGAM a special place to work and I am immensely proud of the impact our team achieves on a daily basis in the delivery of our social cause.”

Positive influence on society

Furthermore, according to Investors in People, 100 percent of YGAM employees feel the organisation has a positive influence on society. In collaboration with GamCare, the organisation surpassed its 2020 goals, training 2,906 therapists over the course of the year, and then assisted 184,700 young people with problem gambling education sessions.

Investors in People have applauded the charity for gaining external accreditation and receiving many favourable feedback from customers, including City & Guilds Assured, the Association of Employment and Learning Providers, and the NCVQ Trusted Charity, as well as registering with the fundraising regulator.

Investors in People CEO Paul Devoy added: “We’d like to congratulate YGAM. Gold accreditation on We invest in people is a fantastic effort for any organisation, and places YGAM in fine company with a host of organisations that understand the value of people.”

Children & Young People Now Awards ceremony

The news comes after YGAM was honoured with a PSHE Education Award, as well as three other national honours, at the Children & Young People Now Awards ceremony.

Sam Calvert Smit, Human Resources Manager at YGAM added: “We are all thrilled with this rating. It is hugely rewarding for everyone who has been on the incredible journey YGAM over the last few years.

“Our fantastic team of teachers, practitioners, parents and individuals with lived experience continues to grow and make a real difference. YGAM recently scooped four national awards including the PSHE Education Award at the Children & Young People Now Awards.

“The PSHE Education Award honours organisations that ‘provide outstanding resources to educators for PSHE education, delivering materials and lesson plans that align cohesively with current national curriculum requirements.”
