The Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) has named FanDuel as an Authorised Gaming Operator for North, South, and Central America.
The new partnership delivers the firm’s sportsbook and daily fantasy sports products to WTA fans for the first time, and it’s the first time a women’s sport will receive video highlights across its web platforms and sportsbooks.
WTA trademarks will be made available to FanDuel, and the WTA Tour’s official scoring data will be provided by Stats Perform, the WTA’s Official Data Supplier, across all of FanDuel’s platforms.
Tennis fans in the Americas will be able to participate in the rising engagement opportunities surrounding fantasy sports as a result of this integration, which will help to professionalise the legalised gambling category for tennis.
Building blocks for growing fan base
Micky Lawler, President of the WTA, stated: “The WTA is pleased to welcome FanDuel as its first Authorised Gaming Operator. FanDuel is a premier destination for sports fans online and this relationship provides the building blocks for growing our fan base.
“This milestone not only delivers on the growing appetite fans have for a more personalized sporting experience, but also paves the way for us to have a proactive role in managing the responsible gambling standards and practices we wish to foster. Our top priority is providing our fans with more opportunities to engage with the sport in a fun and safe way.”
Support of women in sports
FanDuel Group President and Interim CEO Amy Howe added: “We are incredibly proud of our commitment to supporting women in sports and are continuously looking for new ways to further raise awareness of female athletes, teams, and all women in sports.
“Aligning with the WTA – the global leader in women’s professional sports – is consistent with our overall mission to elevate the profile for talented women in sports. We are delighted to partner with such a prestigious organisation.”
Strengthen the growth and exposure of women’s tennis
The arrangement with FanDuel is the WTA’s latest innovation to strengthen the growth and exposure of women’s tennis, and it was driven by CSM, the WTA’s official sponsorship sales agency.
FanDuel will demonstrate the next development of data-driven touchpoints and trusted betting solutions for WTA fans, after the launch of Stats Perform’s data integration last November.
“Our platforms are now a destination for WTA content and highlights, which significantly enriches the sports betting experience, while continuing to expand our media and content capabilities,” Howe added.
FanDuel will collaborate closely with the WTA to promote safe and responsible gaming as part of the new strategic partnership. The WTA has joined the National Council on Problem Gambling, demonstrating its commitment to promote responsible gaming and the provision of prevention, treatment, and recovery programmes (NCPG).
