This year, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the annual World Series of Poker live series is not taking place, but the WSOP will still celebrate its 50th anniversary with an online player event. WSOP.com will host 50 online poker events from 8-27 Sept., with $3 million guaranteed in prize money.
The 50th Anniversary Series will have all-level buy-Ins. One feature event is the $555 Main Event which comes with a $505,050 guaranteed prize pool. Other notable incidents include:
- $50 NLHE (Event 1) – $50,000 guarantee, Sept. 8
- $320 NLHE (Event 14) – $150,000 guarantee, Sept. 13
- $55 NLHE (Event 30) – $100,000 guarantee, Sept. 20
- $2,000 NLHE (Event 36) – $150,000 guarantee, Sept. 22

Most tournaments are Texas Hold’em poker events mixed in with a few Omaha poker events. You can find a complete schedule here at WSOP.com.
A new daily tournament, the $215 Rack it Up, will also appear on the website beginning on Sept. 8. The event has a guaranteed $50,000 reward, reflecting the theme of the 50th anniversary. In addition to the prize pool, a further $5,000 will be added to the purse each day that the guarantee is met. Players at the top online poker sites in New Jersey that have a real money account in the WSOP are qualifying, as are those in Nevada and Delaware.
Rake-free events are also to be held in September. The new $10,000 guaranteed game, “Dropping Dimes,” will be held indefinitely, rake-free, for a $50 buy-in. The tournaments will “break” into the event lobby at random times.
Promotions for upcoming WSOP Expected
This month, WSOP.com will be offering more incentives. Betters will earn a 100 per cent deposit bonus for existing members from Sept. 6-20 up to $400.
In addition, the new campaign “Free Love Freerolls” will run throughout September, with the $10,000 freerolls running regularly. The first to debut is Sept. 9.
Every Sunday in September WSOP will also give a Players Appreciation Tournament. With a $100 buy-in, players online can participate in prizes each week for $100,000.
Changes to Checkboards
WSOP.com combines the leaderboards and disburses prize money in the process. Multiple incentives are set for Blast and Sit & Go players to earn.
Blast events are four-handed Texas Hold’em tournaments which offer players a chance to win their buy-in up to 10,000 times. Before the event begins the prize money is randomly determined. A $1,000 leaderboard bonus will come up from Sept. 28. Sit & Go tournaments will also run through the 28th of Sept. The top 15 are being rewarded with a $1,000 share of weekly prizes.
This was a busy time for WSOP online poker. For the first time , the entire 2020 World Series of Poker was held online, and a $3 million summer series recently concluded.
