William Hill has given a peek into the permanent sports book location that is scheduled to open in early 2021, following the opening of its pop-up sports book at Capital One Arena in July.
The William Hill Sports Book, in collaboration with Monumental Sports & Entertainment, sets out to deliver a first-of-its-kind sports fan experience inside a professional sports complex.
The renderings include a multi-level entertainment room with a full-service sports book with 12 windows for tickets and 10 kiosks for self-service, two VIP areas and a large private dining / event space. Additional features include 1,500 square feet of custom LED entertainment space that will surround the entire facility.
The President of Retail Operations for William Hill US, David Grolman, explained: “The success of the William Hill pop-up sports book has exceeded our expectations, and we’re excited to create the next phase of the sports fan experience with our permanent location inside the Capital One Arena.
“What we’re creating now is a game-day experience that can’t be rivaled. Offering a full-service sports book and restaurant, with an ambiance built around the excitement and energy of live sporting events.”
Jim Van Stone, President, Business Operations and Chief Commercial Officer for Monumental Sports & Entertainment added: “We are thrilled to be the first US sports complex to have opened a year-round sports book at Capital One Arena, located in the nation’s capital.
“The William Hill Sports Book will be a one-of-a-kind, immersive experience not only for Wizards and Capitals fans attending events, but for all sports fans – featuring state-of-the-art audio-visual technologies and premium culinary offerings, which will surely become a premier entertainment destination for Washingtonians and visitors to the Greater Washington region.”
Construction will begin on the permanent sports book space upon receipt of all necessary regulatory approvals. The facility will be open regularly, year-round, and available to the public from F Street upon opening in early 2021. During select ticketing activities, the second floor also provides direct access to and from the Capital One Arena.
Legal-age sports fans will also have the option of wagering inside the arena on a William Hill smartphone app, as allowed by Washington DC regulations. In the coming weeks, details about the mobile app and the food and beverage operator that will produce a curated game-day experience will be announced.
