William Hill, the world’s largest bookmaker, is reorganising team composition by naming a new Chief Operating Officer and financial officer. Sportsbook and gaming operator based in London announced a replacement for Ruth Prior, who has been with the company since October 2017.
This decision came after the annual general meeting of the company which named Matt Ashley as the new CFO. Stephen Parry will join the Company as Chief Operating Officer later this year, the article reads.
Although Matt Ashley brings an extensive hands-on background from London-listed transportation provider National Express, where he worked in various finance positions for nearly ten years, Stephen Parry’s expertise comes directly from a bookmaking holding business, Flutter Entertainment.
Ashley will also serve as executive director on William Hill’s board, owing to his brief position as president and chief executive officer at National Express in the United States. This move follows on from Adrian Marsh’s decision last week not to join the group.
Stephen Parry has previously worked as managing director of Paddy Power Betfair and integration director of the newly announced $4.7 billion merger, in addition to his involvement with Flutter Entertainment since 2017.
Continuing Chief Executive Officer at William Hill, Ulrik Bengtsson, commented on these two key hires as significant reinforcement of emphasis on building a “high-caliber team.” According to Bengtsson, both Matt and Stephen will bring considerable strengths to the business in a short time.
“Matt has a wealth of international financial and US experience as well as being an experienced CFO of a FTSE 250 Listed company. Stephen comes with a first-class track record of driving digital change, operational focus and customer experience in senior roles at Vodafone and Flutter. I look forward to welcoming them both to William Hill,” added Bengtsson.
The online gaming company has expanded its American division in previous months by entering into many alliances with leading sports networks and software manufacturers including CBS Sports Streaming and Scientific Games.
William Hill has served millions of sports enthusiasts and fantasy players by establishing a relationship with the second biggest sports brand on the American soil. Early March, the convergence was introduced across all digital sports channels, concentrating mainly on media, products, and services. Before the official start of the fantasy football season, however, a more comprehensive rollout is expected, whose programme is now entirely used by William Hill.
Earlier in February, Scientific Games Corporation, the American distributor of gaming goods and services from Las Vegas, announced the extension of a relationship with William Hill plc. The businesses will collaborate at least until 2024, enabling complete introduction of content and development services in the UK and Europe, according to the terms of this Agreement.
