Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment (MGE) and FanDuel Group have opened a temporary Mohegan Sun FanDuel Sportsbook retail location at Bow & Arrow Sports Bar in Connecticut, offering a retail sports betting experience.
At the Mohegan Sun FanDuel Sportsbook, Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont took part in a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open the sportsbook and made a ceremonial first bet, the first legal sports wager in the Constitution State. Wayne Chrebet and Darius Butler, both NFL stars, were on hand to celebrate the debut and put bets.
The temporary Mohegan Sun FanDuel Sportsbook, which has four live betting windows and approximately 50 self-service betting terminals, is located near the Autumn entrance at Mohegan Sun.
‘Thill and milestone’
Mohegan Sun’s President and General Manager, Jeff Hamilton, said: “To now be able to offer sports betting for Mohegan Sun guests is quite a thrill and a milestone that was a long time in the making.
“This day wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication and tireless work from our parent company, MGE, my incredible team at Mohegan Sun, leadership with the Mohegan Tribe, Governor Lamont, and the State of Connecticut, and our partners at FanDuel Group.”
Planned debut of permanent venue
The permanent Mohegan Sun FanDuel Sportsbook is expected to debut this winter in a completely refurbished location where the Mohegan Sun Race Book was formerly housed, according to MGE and FanDuel. It will be 11,000 square feet in size and will include a 140-foot high-resolution television wall as well as a full bar and eating menu. Within the new venue, there will still be a Race Book component.
Hamilton continued: “This gaming expansion will bring jobs, excitement, and other positive economic impacts to Mohegan Sun and across Connecticut, and we can’t wait to hit the ground running.”
MGE and FanDuel also stated that they will collaborate on the Mohegan Sun online casino experience, with additional information on an official online debut date coming soon.
