Vox Media’s SB Nation and DraftKings have agreed to create DraftKings Nation through a multi-year editorial and technology deal. The new media property will immediately concentrate on the 2019 NFL season and grow in the future to include other professional sports such as NCAA football and basketball, NBA and MLB. amongst others.
The new development will merge SB’s community-building capacities with DraftKings ‘ profound insight into how supporters communicate and immerse themselves in the sports they enjoy. The newsroom will grow over the next few months, and DraftKings Nation will start to provide original content as well as important insight, analysis and coverage of lifestyle across all forms of daily fantasy and sports betting.
Chairman and CEO of Vox Media, Jim Bankoff, commented on the new partnership by stating: “Over the past decade, SB Nation has honed a unique ability to engage massive fan communities while Vox Media’s innovative technology platforms, Chorus and Concert, have accelerated that growth. Now, in partnership with DraftKings, we have combined our editorial vision and expertise, paired with our technology capabilities to serve passionate sports fans in this fast-growing area.”
The fresh development will be running on Vox Media’s proprietary publication platform, Chorus. It will also join nearly 300 communities within the SB Nation network devoted to teams and passions that include several sporting leagues including the NBA, NHL, NCAA and NFL.
The signing of fresh partnership deals and extending contracts, has kept DraftKings busy of late. with the firm announcing just a few weeks ago that a contract extension was signed with the Kambi Group. A signed multi-state option that enables the partnership to extend to a further eight countries.
In New Jersey, Kambi and the fantasy sports brand have already worked together and will now be able to transfer their agreement into even more countries, including New York, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Colorado, and Tennessee.
