Unibet Increases Qatar Goodwood Festival Sponsorship

Unibet, a sports betting company, has increased its official sponsorship of the Qatar Goodwood Festival.

Unibet will sponsor three more events at the premier meeting next week, bringing the total number of sponsored races at the festival to 12.

The operator has added three Group 2 races, the Unibet Lennox Stakes, the Unibet Richmond Stakes, and the Unibet Vintage Stakes, to its growing list of races, which already includes the Unibet Golden Mile and the Unibet Stewards’ Cup.

In recent years, the three aforementioned races have produced a number of notable winners, including Galileo Gold in 2015 and Pinatubo in 2020 winning the Unibet Vintage, Golden Horde in 2019 and Supremacy in 2020 winning the Unibet Richmond, and Toormore and Space Blues winning the Unibet Lennox Stakes in 2015 and 2020 respectively.

High quality contests

Head of Kindred Group Racing Communications and Sponsorship, Ed Nicholson said: “We are thrilled to be associated with the Qatar Goodwood Festival and are delighted to have added three races of such quality to the sponsorship.

“You only have to look at some of the names to have won the three races to see what high quality contests they are.

“We are all set for a cracking five days racing and I cannot wait to see a capacity crowd once again on the Sussex Downs.”

Unibet states that its commercial arrangements have made it “one of racing’s biggest supporters” since its inception in 2013.

Over 1,000 races are now sponsored by the operator in the UK, including 16 Group/Grade 1 races and 20 Group/Grade 2 races.

Unibet vowed to support #GoRacingGreen, its main horseracing charity partner, during ‘Mental Health Awareness Week’ in May, as part of its ‘stable tour’ to raise awareness of the nationwide issue.

Unibet has worked as the charity’s principal fundraiser for the past two years, helping to make the sport more accessible to those with mental health issues.
