The Metropolitan Government of Tokyo has announced a series of meetings with private companies on its tentatively titled “Tokyo Bay Area Vision,” which specifically includes the possibility of an IR proposal for the Odaiba area of Aomi.
The hearings are scheduled to take place between January 20 and February 14, 2020.
The stated goal of the hearings is to help the metropolitan government decide after the end of the 2020 Olympics on its specific path for coastal development.
Governor Yuriko Koike has sent mixed signals as to whether or not she plans to join the IR race, making Tokyo a direct competitor to Yokohama at this stage.
Asked by the governor at a meeting of the Metropolitan Assembly on September 9, she stated: “There are both merits and demerits, and we are making a comprehensive examination.”
Apart from the Aomi district, the former Tsukiji Fish Market site is another site that has been swirled by IR bid rumours.
