Since signing an agreement with Odawa Indians’ Little Traverse Bay Bands, the Stars Group has deepened its presence across the United States.
The agreement gives the company first skin market access to run and sell real-money online betting, poker and casino in Michigan, subject to the availability of permits, state law and regulatory approvals.
“We are excited to announce this agreement with the Odawa tribe, which further strengthens our market access as we work to continue to build our Fox Bet business into one of the leaders in the emerging US online betting and gaming market,” stated Robin Chhabra, chief executive officer of Fox Bet.
In addition, Odawa will earn a revenue share from The Stars Group’s service of the related online offerings under the terms of the agreement.
With its Odawa Casino in Petoskey joined by a similarly named property in Mackinaw in 2016, the tribe operates two land-based properties in the city.
Formerly Victories Casino, the Petoskey property of the Odawa, a $140 m casino covering almost 300,000 square feet, features a 50,000 square foot gaming floor containing nearly 1,000 slots, hundreds of table games, a high-limit bar and a dedicated poker room and blackjack space.
This is complemented by the Odawa hotel, renovated in 2014, which includes 127 suites, 900 Ovation Hall seats and almost 20,000 square feet of meeting and event space.
Opened in 2016, Mackinaw City’s Odawa site includes a gaming floor of 6,106 square feet encapsulating 220 computers.
“The tribe’s partnership with The Stars Group extends beyond our reservation and places the thrill of world class sports betting and online gaming under every finger-tip sliding across a touch screen in the State of Michigan,” added Fred Harrington Jr, Tribal Council, LTBB Odawa.
