In accordance with Alberta’s “Open for Summer Plan,” Gateway Casinos and Entertainment will reopen its Starlight Casino in Edmonton this week.
The facility will follow all public health criteria set forth by Alberta’s chief medical officer of health, as well as Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis advice, and adopt strong health and safety precautions already in place throughout the company’s network.
Customers will have access to a variety of slot machines, the Replay Arena, and table games, with the exception of poker, when Gateway reopens on June 10.
Inclusion in province plan
Tony Santo, CEO at Gateway Casinos said: “We are excited to be included in the province’s plan and to be reopening one of our signature properties in Edmonton, Starlight Casino at the West Edmonton Mall, and welcome back some of our team members and customers.
“As always, the health and safety of our employees and customers are paramount. We look forward to a safe and steady restart and the return to full operations as it is safe and viable to do so.”
As vaccination targets are met and hospitalisations decrease, Alberta’s Open for Summer Plan plans to reduce limitations in three stages, with all restrictions lifted by late June or early July.
On June 1, the region entered stage one, and as long as hospitalisations continue to reduce, it will enter stage two on June 10.
“We operate in one of the most highly regulated business environments in the province with more rigorous oversight and controls than any other business in the hospitality sector,” added Santo.
“At Gateway, we have developed extensive health and safety plans that have been independently reviewed by a health and safety subject matter expert and have been submitted to Alberta Health Services and the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis.”
