Sportium Completes Network Security Upgrade With Dell EMC

Sportium, the flagship bookmaker property of Spanish gambling conglomerate Grupo CIRSA, completed a network upgrade to securities led by multinational IT infrastructure and engineering group Dell EMC.

The project saw Sportium revamp the entire IT securities system with 3,000 retail betting points supporting + 8,000 wagering terminals running across its network.

The upgrade of Sportium’s systems was led by the’ ABAST’ technology security division of Dell EMC, which saw the deployment of new’ VMware suite’ (cloud-based) data and domain protections security provisions.

Sportium will benefit from multiple security and operational benefits when deploying ABAST network solutions, as the Spanish bookmaker’s network is secured by a flexible cloud backup storage capacity and a centralised management system monitoring data transactions ‘at source.’

Further holistic benefits should be seen in Sportium enhancing its group-wide data processing capacity and ensuring a’ notable reduction’ in RTO time recovery targets, reducing long-term IT and computing costs.

Alberto Díaz-Benito, Sportium’s IT Infrastructure & Operations Manager, lauded the role of Dell ECM’s ABAST team in delivering on a major CIRSA IT initiative.

He said: “Thanks to the excellent solutions of Dell EMC and the good work of ABAST experts, this project has fulfilled our expectations for a fast, operational backup environment. and reliable in all our productive environments.

“The savings in communications that we have achieved thanks to this was a key decision factor to address the project with these technologies.”
