Spillemydigheden Approves New Marketing Order

Danish gambling regulatory authority Spillemyndigheden has reminded licenced incumbents that on 1 April 2020 new marketing standards will come into effect.

On 1 January 2020, Spillemyndigheden officially approved a new executive order adding another section of criteria to Denmark’s gambling code relating to marketing standards for goods and services related to gambling.

All Danish approved gambling incumbents (land and digital) must remind customers of the following features and conditions in their advertising portfolios as of the beginning of April:

  • Gambling product age limit requirements
  • Reference Spillemyndigheden direct problem helpline
  • Promotion of ‘ROFUS’ Danish gambling’s self-exclusion network

Spillemyndigheden underlined that it would apply its executive order criteria through all operator goods and marketing channels.

All Danish gambling incumbents will be required to clearly show their Spillemyndigheden licence IDs to customers via their websites or retail inventories in addition to new requirements.

Noting that incumbents and media stakeholders will have questions related to these new standards, Spillemyndigheden announced that it would release a guidance paper on its legislation outlining specific examples across all media formats.
