Spanish bookmaker Sportium announced it will join the sports betting industry in Panama in 2020 with plans to launch 20 new betting points across the country.
Accompanied by the most successful sporting son of Panama, boxing hero Roberto’ Hands of Stone ‘ Duran, Sportium leadership held a conference last week at the Majestic Casino in Panama City–a property that will act as one of the Panamanian betting partners of the Spanish group.
Talking to national media, Sportium CEO Alberto Eljarrat and International Business Leader Sheila Rodriguez confirmed that Sportium would release its initial Panama City business profile in which it plans to open an additional seven betting points across Majestic and Fantastic casino properties.
Beginning in Panama City, the Spanish outfit will then spread across the country’s provinces of Chitre, Colon, Santiago and Aguadulce with the goal of building the most robust network for sports betting.
Underlining the new market aspirations of Sportium, Eljarrat clarified that the Spanish bookmaker has a proven operational footprint as the flagship asset of the Spanish gambling company Grupo Cirsa, which operates an existing portfolio of arcade and bingo assets in Panama City.
The Panamanian expansion of Sportium will be driven by the country director, Pablo Sanz, who told media: “We have 50 employees in Panama, who are going to add another hundred with the expansion, apart from indirect jobs, that will be generated from our activity.”
