Skrill Announce Latest Leeds United FC Agreement

Skrill, the payment network, has announced a deal with Leeds United FC of the Premier League, following its deal with esports gaming provider Luckbox.

Supporters of the West Yorkshire club will be allowed to use Skrill to make payments on the team’s official website, such as paying for tickets and ordering goods, as a part of the deal.

Foray into esports

Following its foray into esports with the Luckbox alliance in February, the platform’s position in the sports industry will be enhanced by this agreement. The latter arrangement enabled the betting company to improve its customer engagement capability by expanding the payment options available.

Lorenzo Pellegrino, CEO of Skrill said: “With the eagerly anticipated return of fan presence at football stadiums and the incredible season which Leeds United is having, I can’t think of a more exciting time for Skrill to be entering into this partnership.”

Commercial publicity

Skrill will also benefit from considerable commercial publicity as a part of the deal, which will begin with this weekend’s match against Chelsea FC on LED screens adorning Leeds United’s Elland Road stadium.

The company will also work with The Whites to create original material for fans, such as player interviews, social media stunts, and giveaways.

“We already know from our football partnerships that fans enjoy the benefits of Skrill and that our service is very relevant to them,” Pellegrino continued.

“We will be making the most of this new relationship to add value to the club’s payment ecosystem and our own valued customer and partner base to make it a winning formula all round. We wish the team all the best for the big game this weekend and the remainder of the season.”

Dynamic forces in respective industries

Leeds United Chairman, Andrea Radrizzani also remarked: “We are delighted that Skrill is joining us as a partner. Both Skrill and Leeds United are dynamic forces in our respective industries, challenging the status quo and going through a particularly exciting time in our journey.

“Both of our brands have a strong and loyal fan base in the UK and internationally, and we look forward to rewarding our fans through this partnership.”
