After being promoted to Senior Vice President and Managing Director of EMEA, Simon Johnson will manage the Scientific Games gaming teams in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Johnson will now assume responsibility for the ‘strategic path course’ of the company across the EMEA in his new position as the company explores new growth opportunities in the area.
Previous position at SG
Four years ago, Johnson originally joined SG, having previously held the role of UK Commercial Director, where he headed the UK go-to-market departments, including Sales, Product Management, Marketing and Business Intelligence.
He helped ‘generate new revenues and execute a business plan to drive recovery and restore growth’ during that period, while also ensuring that SG stayed compliant with UK regulatory requirements.
Johnson gained extensive experience in managing sales and operating teams across various jurisdictions prior to his position as UK Commercial Director, having worked in investment banking, private equity, telecommunications and financial technology firms.
Such functions, SG says, helped Johnson strengthen his abilities in ‘defining and executing complex change programs, building and developing high-performing teams, and working with boards to deliver growth and operational enhancements’.
The announcement follows the news of the naming of Jim Bombassei as SG’s new Senior Vice President of Investor Relations. For its separately listed Scientific Games (SGMS) and SciPlay (SCPL) projects, the technology group announced that Bombassei would act as the dual investor relations lead.
