NHL’s Buffalo Sabres formalised a partnership with Seneca Resorts & Casinos, which has now been nominated as the team’s exclusive sportsbook partner.
The arrangement is focused on the alliance between Sabres’ parent company Pegula Sports & Entertainment and the New York State tribal gaming operator, according to a study in Sport Business. A similar deal with Seneca Resorts was agreed in September by the NHL’s Buffalo Bills, also owned by Pegula Sports.
Last month saw the opening the Seneca Sports Lounge at the Sabres’ KeyBank Center, which has the ability to introduce sports betting within the arena.
Seneca Resorts, Seneca Gaming Corporation’s wholly-owned subsidiary, is a Seneca Nation of Indians tribal corporation that conducts gaming operations in Western New York.
Said Sport Business: “Sports wagering at its three gaming properties – Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino, Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino, and Seneca Allegany Resort & Casino – will begin within the next few weeks. Under current law, New York’s commercial casinos were allowed to start sports betting once the federal ban fell in 2018.”
