Saratoga Welcomes Back Harness Racing But Not Spectators

Harness racing is all set to resume at Saratoga Casino Hotel on Thursday June 18th, but due to state guidelines during the COVID-19 pandemic no spectators will be allowed on the track. Fans can however wager on the races remotely via the online wagering platform of Saratoga Casino Hotel,

Regarding the directive outlined by the New York State Gaming Commission and the New York State Health Department, the venue has established new policies and procedures to minimise the risk of a COVID-19 outbreak and protect the safety of employees, horsemen and horses.

John Matarazzo, Director of Racing Operations said: “We’re very excited to resume our 79th season of racing here at the historic Spa Oval, and are particularly happy that our horsemen will be able to get back to the sport they love after a time that’s been difficult for so many.

“We’d like to extend a special thank you to the New York State Gaming Commission and the Department of Health for making this possible.”

The races will run two days a week, with a noon post time every Thursday and Sunday. SaratogaBets will deliver a 5 percent bonus on all winning Saratoga Harness wagers on all race dates during June and July, as well as double the money back on system purchases.

In addition to up to 5 percent in daily or weekly player reward payouts, these bonuses are regularly offered to account holders of SaratogaBets. The casino remains closed and awaits further state clarification as to a reopen date for the entire house.
