This year’s Royal Ascot, which takes place from Tuesday, June 15th to Saturday, June 19th, will have the most worldwide media coverage of the famed UK racing festival.
Ascot Racetrack has chosen HBA Media to serve as its principal worldwide media rights distributor in preparation for the festival’s public comeback, which will welcome +12,000 spectators to its racecourse each day.
HBA has secured a number of new broadcasters who will broadcast the festival’s fixtures for the first time in Turkey (beIN Sports), Cyprus (CYTA), Portugal (SportTV), and the regional media companies of Nordic Entertainment and Setanta Baltics, expanding Royal Ascot’s global footprint.
HBA’s World Feed platform will distribute Royal Ascot’s worldwide media rights, ensuring that the Festival’s 2021 fixtures are broadcast across all continents for racing fans.
Strong global distribution
Frank Sale, Managing Director of HBA Media said: “The eyes of the horse racing world are upon Royal Ascot and we are delighted to have secured strong global distribution, continuing on from last year, with an impressive number of new broadcasters and platforms taking the World Feed.”
Virgin Media will broadcast Royal Ascot in Ireland, Movistar in Spain, RAI in Italy, Polsat in Poland, MatchTV in Russia, and Sport Klub in the Balkans.
Astro Malaysia and SparkTV New Zealand will provide coverage of the Festival for Asian and Oceania markets, with both live and on-demand services.
Racing.com, based in Australia, has renewed its day-to-day coverage of Royal Ascot, with ESPN as the principal broadcaster for Latin America and the Caribbean.
Meanwhile, Super Sports, a pan-national sports broadcaster, will be in charge of Royal Ascot’s African coverage, which will span 50 countries.
Felicity Barnard, Commercial Director of Ascot Racecourse, remarked in support of HBA’s media distribution: “As the global interest in Royal Ascot continues to grow, we are delighted to agree this level of exposure around the world for those wanting to watch and engage with the meeting.
“The new broadcasters and platforms joining the HBA Media roster this year will also give valuable exposure into new territories for our partners and suppliers.”
