With four-time champion jockey Richard Johnson becoming the newest spokesman for the brand, Racing Post has expanded its media team.
Johnson will be assigning his time each Saturday to write daily features for the paper and website, while also supporting the company’s jockey welfare.
Racing Post Chief Marketing Officer Louise Agran commented: “Richard is one of the most successful jockeys around and he is a role model to many in the industry so we are delighted to have him on board. I am thrilled that he has chosen to partner with the Racing Post and we look forward to working together on some exciting projects ahead.”
Although suffering a broken arm last month, the jockey will still continue racing, with Racing Post representing Johnson throughout his events. The firm also announced that it will feature the Englishman in multiple content and feature interviews, including a new weekly show beginning on Friday.
Johnson added: “I’m delighted the Racing Post has come on board and is going to sponsor me, so you will see Racing Post on my leg from the end of this week.
“There will hopefully be plenty of times that I’m in the studio doing shows and I’ll be writing for the paper as well, so hopefully there’s lots to look forward to. This is the main racing paper, so it’s great to be attached and to work with the Racing Post.”
Eventually, Johnson will be producing daily articles of the 2020 Cheltenham and Aintree Festivals, offering his own insight into current results throughout the event.
The news follows a busy transitional period for the brand following its recent expansion, as the company rebranded its corporate identity to Spotlight Sports Group.
