Playtech Details Long Term Partnership With Aquila Global

Playtech Plc has provided more details about its’ long-term’ software partnership with Aquila Global, ‘Wplay Colombia’ operator, which was reported Friday morning in the latest trading update of the FTSE250 group.

Playtech will represent Aquila Global as a’ strategic technology lead ‘ combining its omni-channel systems and further marketing services for the flagship Wplay estate.

Wplay operates the largest retail betting network in Colombia with more than 7,000 sales points. Wplay was the first Colombian gaming company to acquire an online gambling licence from regulator Coljuegos in June 2017, based in Medellin.

Playtech will continue to develop the omni-channel capacity of Wplay by migrating its retail and digital systems to its IMS player management platform, enabling the Colombian outfit to leverage its retail footprint and drive growth online.

Branding the partnership as a major development, Julio César Tamayo, President of Wplay, said: “In addition to strengthening Wplay’s leadership in Colombia this agreement will deliver the technology and expertise required to take the market in Colombia to the next level. Playtech has the track record and necessary scale to deliver industry leading software, marketing and responsible gambling tools to the number one brand in Colombia.”

Furthermore, Playtech will act as the leading software provider for the daily operations of Wplay, enhancing the marketing, customer retention and compliance provisions of the Colombian gambling group.
