Playmaker Capital Inc, a newly-listed digital ecosystem for sports fans situated in Toronto, has announced that trading in its common shares has begun on the TSX Venture Exchange under the ticker code “PMKR.”
Jake Cassaday has been named as the company’s new COO, according to the business. He was previously a Partner at Relay Ventures, a well-known North American venture capital firm and Playmaker’s lead investor.
Playmaker stated in a statement that its goal is to build an ecosystem of engaged sports fans that will be monetised by sports betting businesses, blue chip sponsors, leagues, and clubs.
The firm finalised its first acquisition, Futbol Sites, a major digital sports media business linking advertisers and sports betting operators to millions of fans in Latin America and the United States, in April 2021, as previously stated.
Step to become global player
Jordan Gnat, the company’s CEO, said: “Today marks the next step in Playmaker’s journey to become a global player in digital sports media. We will leverage our experienced management team and exceptional board of directors to bring great value to our shareholders.
“These are exciting times in the early life of Playmaker. Our mission is to build an ecosystem of assets that will provide sports fans and our clients with outsized value. We are beginning from an already-profitable position, and now we welcome Jake Cassaday as Chief Operating Officer.”
Cassaday stated: “To be joining Playmaker, fresh on the heels of a go-public, and ready to scale through both organic and acquisitive growth, is hugely exciting for me. Playmaker connects my passions for sports, technology, and media, and allows me to leverage my experience to support the Playmaker growth engine and build a lasting company in the sports media arena.”
Cassaday spent six years at Relay, where he served on the boards of directors of many high-growth firms and acted as an advisor to startup accelerators such as Techstars and the Future of Sport Lab.
He has been associated with Playmaker since its beginnings, assisting in the development of its strategy, raising financing, and making initial acquisitions.
