PGA Tour Joins AGA Campaign ‘Have A Game Plan’

As the newest member of its Have A Game Plan, the PGA TOUR has joined the American Gaming Association (AGA) as the Bet Responsible public service campaign to educate golf fans on responsible sports betting.

Know When to Lay Up

The TOUR will create content as part of the campaign that encourages its followers to “Know When to Lay Up” and to bet wisely. The co-branded, responsible gaming content, along with public service announcements that will air on PGA TOUR Radio, will appear on social and digital platforms.

Aligning efforts to provide consistent message

VP of Gaming at the PGA TOUR, Scott Warfield, commented: “A key pillar of the PGA TOUR’s sports betting strategy is responsible gaming and ensuring our fans are equipped with the appropriate resources so they are properly prepared and educated. By aligning with the American Gaming Association in support of its Have A Game Plan campaign we’re able to align our efforts and provide a consistent message focused on responsible gaming.”

In the initiative, which focuses on the fundamentals of responsible sports betting, the TOUR joins NASCAR and the National Hockey League (NHL) as league partners. This involve setting and sticking to a budget, maintaining social betting, knowing the odds, and playing with trustworthy, controlled operators. In support of the initiative, Monumental Sports & Entertainment and the Vegas Golden Knights have also provided inventory.

Keeping pace with responsible gaming education

AGA Senior Vice President, Strategic Communications, Casey Clark, noted: “The AGA is thrilled to welcome the PGA TOUR to our growing responsible sports betting campaign. As legal sports betting continues to expand in both availability and popularity, it is imperative that responsible gaming education keeps pace. 

“Today’s announcement is a testament to the TOUR’s thoughtful approach to sports betting and marks an important step in continuing to engage all industry stakeholders in our shared responsibility to educate fans on safely and responsibly betting on sports.”

State-by-state guide

The AGA’s Have A Game Plan campaign, released in 2019, offers customers a state-by-state guide on where to find legal operators, highlights the principles of sports betting, and increases awareness of signs of problem gambling.

This collaboration is the latest in a series of TOUR sports betting programs that are innovative and industry-leading. In collaboration with Genius Sports, following the repeal of PASPA in 2018, it instituted a rigorous integrity program and later announced a global agreement with IMG ARENA to license its official live scoring data to betting operators worldwide.

BetMGM, DraftKings, FanDuel, and PointsBet are the official TOUR sports betting partners, and the company continues to expand its groundbreaking GolfBet relationship with The Action Network. The TOUR is also a platinum member of the National Council on Problem Gambling.
