OneFootball Broadens Digital Media Portfolio Acquiring Dugout

In a move that will broaden its digital media portfolio, OneFootball acquired Dugout, while also securing a working partnership with Europe’s largest football clubs.

The acquisition will see the exclusive video content of Dugout added to the OneFootball app, which will get a new vertical premium club content to support its 70 million worldwide users.

OneFootball will continue its transformation from being one of the leading live scores, news and perspectives applications in football to being the ‘global football’s all-in-one multimedia portal’ with exclusive OTT streaming, highlights, behind-the-scenes and video material, news, scores and statistics archive.

Since 2016, Dugout has worked with European football giants Arsenal, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Juventus, Liverpool, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and Olympique de Marseille as the lead social media publisher.

OneFootball has announced that all investors of the Dugout club will become shareholders of its company as a result of the transaction.

OneFootball’s CEO and founder, Lucas von Cranach, explained: “Since forming OneFootball, our ambition has been to become the ultimate destination for everything football, both on and off the pitch, and our acquisition of Dugout reflects this.

“Welcoming 10 of the world’s biggest football clubs as shareholders is a special occasion and we will be working closely alongside them, and OneFootball’s existing shareholders, to create exciting direct-to-consumer opportunities.”

OneFootball noted that content from Dugout will help the business extend its commercial and partnership opportunities beyond its current limits.

Von Cranach added: “This move will benefit the whole football ecosystem with clubs, federations and leagues able to increase audience reach and harness our powerful data insights to gain a deeper understanding of their fans’ engagement.

“Our brand and advertising partners will have access to new, contextually-relevant destinations to reach highly engaged football fans on a global scale, with a local approach.”

Supporting the transaction, Elliot Richardson, founder and chairman of Dugout, branded the purchase as a groundbreaking football publishing deal, adding value to all stakeholders.
