Interwetten Announces New Financial Record For 2019

Despite ‘huge regulatory hurdles,’ sports betting and online gaming provider Interwetten has announced setting a new record for its financial year 2019.

In releasing a trading statement, Interwetten posted a year-on-year gross gaming revenue (GGR) of €99.5 m, representing a 25% rise over 2018, with first-time betting stakes increasing above €2bn.

Interwetten board speaker Dominik Beier commented: “This great year 2019 is the result of fantastic teamwork and achievements across all company divisions. A record result, without a European or World Cup and in view of the major regulatory challenges, is absolutely extraordinary.

“Our size and structure enables us to work flexibly and quickly. For us, it is now important to continue to go full power. 2020 is a very important year, which will be marked by the product offensive, the European Football Championship and expansion into new, regulated, markets.”

In 2019, Interwetten unveiled a new advertising campaign through Germany, Austria, Spain and Greece, thus expanding its sponsorship portfolio after reaching deals with German Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg and the Greek Football league.

In 2019, Beier also took over from Werner Becher, who had held the position for seven years, as Speaker of the Board

The operator placed particular emphasis on developing its product offerings, which included its gaming offering, live streaming and virtual products. Interwetten expanded its product portfolio throughout the year, while also revising its mobile offering. As it enters 2020, Interwetten has promised to launch yet another offensive product.
