Novomatic as hosted global ‘Novomatic Legal Compliance Manager Day 2019’ based on practical examples from classic compliance sectors including prevention of money laundering, anti-corruption, conflicts of interest and data protection.
The international networking meeting programme also included further implementation of the Group Compliance Management System, incorporating a range of compliance steps taking into account the current legal environment, the accepted enforcement strategy for Novomatic AG and future legal developments.
The realistic implementation of risk-based “Know Your Counterparty–Due Diligence” assessments was another major topic. Practical exercises were used to explain and demonstrate the process of checking a contractual partner using the guidelines and screening tools available to the entire group and taking into account a risk based approach.
The conference was rounded off with lectures from various fields, such as Global Transport & Trade Compliance or Group Risk Management, which discussed current national compliance activities, leading to a valuable and engaging knowledge and experience exchange. Also introduced were the ad-hoc reporting requirements for subsidiaries in line with the compliance plan of Novomatic AG, new as of 2019.
Finally, the changes and possible effects of the recently adopted EU whistle-blowing guidelines are discussed, with a review of the future design for the Group-wide whistle-blowing system of Novomatic AG. The Novomatic Group’s globally involved compliance managers are prepared for new national and international legislation.
“Legal Compliance is very important to Novomatic. The Group-wide compliance management system is essential in order to continue to sustainably secure our licenses, which are one of our most valuable assets, in the international markets,” emphasised Novomatic CEO Harald Neumann.
