Neymar will serve as a cultural ambassador for PokerStars, as the Brazilian and Paris Saint-Germain footballer continues to expand his relationship with the online poker site.
Neymar, who re-joined PokerStars in an exciting new partnership in December 2020, promises to shake up poker with a series of experiences for the group’s audience in the latest chapter.
The Brazilian will collaborate closely with PokerStars on a series of artistic ventures based on culture, including art, architecture, music, and more.
In his first foray as a cultural ambassador, he collaborated with PokerStars to create a collection of music playlists that the company claims would provide “the ultimate soundtrack for every type of poker game.”
In honour of his new job, the two have created an exclusive golden chip giveaway. PokerStars has hidden a range of limited edition golden chis to be found during the next few weeks, in addition to the $1 million in cash prizes.
Each chip unlocks a high-value reward, such as autographed goods and clothes, as well as once-in-a-lifetime VIP experiences and gifts hand-picked by the man himself.
Poker more than just a game
When asked his new position, Neymar said: “Poker is so much more than just the game. It is a community and a culture and that is what I love about it. I am excited to start this next chapter with PokerStars, and we are already collaborating on a number of key areas.
“Music is a real passion of mine, so that was first on the list, but there is much more to come. I am excited for you to see what else we have in store.”
This news coincides with the launch of a new advertising campaign featuring Neymar shaking up the poker world in a variety of markets.
Martin Nieri, PokerStars’ global director of brand and creative, explained: “Neymar Jr is not just a globally recognised sports star, he is also a proven creative with a deep interest in the culture around him.
“This new role marks the start of something exciting for the PokerStars community, a merging of two worlds, where poker meets culture. In a first for the industry, together we’ll be creating moments to truly shake up poker and rewarding those who get involved in all that’s to come.”
