According to Screaming Images based in Las Vegas, demand for their custom-made plastic dividers for bar tops has been spiking since the launch.
On July 10, after a increase in cases across the state, the establishments that came under the governor’s orders to reduce COVID-19 danger and exposure were ordered to close.
Mark LeBlanc from Screaming Images said: “There’s been a huge interest in bars.”
The business began making dividers for gaming establishments earlier this year.
Among the first to instal the plastic dividers for guest safety was El Cortez hotel-casino in downtown Las Vegas.
Now the idea is to take off with bars, reports KTNV. “Bars were something that we thought about early on, but it took a while for that to take off, especially with Gov. Sisolak opening them and then closing them a month later,” explained LeBlanc.
The back and forth between phases meant several bars, including those serving food, totally reconfigured their lucrative gaming bar tops, which required tremendous time , effort and cost.
Bobby Kingston, owner of Saddle n Spurs Saloon said: “We’re a little uneasy about putting it all back in the bar now because all it would take is any kind of setback, we’ve already witnessed that.”
Kingston says the relaxed constraints mean that he would no longer need to keep the kitchen of his bar open as late as possible, which will minimise the expense of COVID-19.
“The big thing for us is the fact that the state is now allowing bar top gaming machines, we went through an incredible amount of effort to relocate the machines,” added Kingston.
He says the improvements at his bar are definitely permanent.
13 Action News recently spotted changes at Red Rock Casino with visible plastic dividers set up near the sportsbook between bar-top gaming machines.
LeBlanc says she thinks more bars will be installing the dividers, based on the interest generated so far.
“The El Cortez, they have three bars on property, we did a total of 40 shields for their bar, and now that bars are allowed to reopen soon, we are getting a lot of calls from bars,” said LeBlanc.
Also Screaming Images has constructed plastic dividers for Allegiant Stadium, scheduled to host the Raiders’ first home game today (Monday).
