Montana Lottery Sets March Date For Installation Of Betting Kiosks

The Montana Lottery Commission has set the second week of March as the installation date for a wave of new betting kiosks for Sports Bet Montana throughout the state.

Last week the Commission convened to make several important decisions on sports wagering, including the types of sports that will be offered to Montanans and the kinds of bets that they can make. Lottery officials estimate the kiosks will be in the field starting March 9 week.

Jennifer McKee, Montana Lottery Communications Manager said: “We are in the home stretch of our planning and testing. We are really looking forward to getting Sports Bet Montana in the market and we’re as excited as Montanans are for betting to begin.”

The committee voted to approve a range of wagers that included moneyline, over / under, in-game, parlay, spread, prop bets and future bets. Approved professional and college sports include basketball, baseball, hockey, football, soccer, tennis, boxing / MMA, golf and motor sports.

Sports Bet Montana was launched by the Lottery in December, when sports wagering licences began to be accepted and processed. The lottery has since licenced more than 100 sales agents and continues to fine-tune the communications and technology pieces that will power Sports Bet Montana in the market.

Most of that work is now complete, and crews from Montana Lottery have begun installing communications equipment at retail sites. They expect to start placing the betting terminals on the week of March 9, with sales agents training to follow very quickly after the equipment has been installed.

Once sales agents are trained they can start selling as immediately upon installation Sports Bet Montana will be on the terminals live.
