Michael Dugher has been chosen for the Betting and Gaming Council as the next Chief Executive Officer and will commence the role in Spring 2020.
Dugher served as a Member of Parliament for the Barnsley East constituency between 2010 and 2017 before entering the Betting and Gaming Council, during which he held senior positions in the Shadow Cabinet, including the Shadow Secretary of State for Education, Media and Sport.
Commenting on the appointment of Dugher, Brigid Simmonds OBE, Chairman, Betting and Gaming Council said: “Michael brings a wealth of experience from his time in parliament and more recently as chief executive of UK Music.
“He’ll bring great leadership, energy and experience to the Betting and Gaming Council and help deliver the ongoing change we need to ensure safe and enjoyable products. We share an ambition to make the UK the safest betting and gaming industry in the world. I very much look forward to working with him.”
Dugher will work in his new role to enhance the gambling atmosphere for a healthy and enjoyable customer experience, furthering the policy of the BGC to mitigate gambling-related harm and create consumer and community faith in the gambling industry.
