Matchroom Announce Loop Acquisition

Matchroom has announced the acquisition of Loop, a live streaming and production company with which the promoter has previously partnered.

Loop will help produce content for Matchroom’s portfolio of brands, including Matchroom Boxing, PDC Darts, Matchroom Pool, and the World Snooker Tour, after becoming a wholly owned subsidiary of Matchroom Media – the agency’s media arm launched earlier this year to serve as a home for live event output.

Loop has previously collaborated with Matchroom, creating streams for the promotion’s OTT app Matchroom.Live, which debuted last year, as well as social media and broadcast rights holders.

Growing production services

Katie Hearn, the digital media division’s Director of Programming, made the following observation: “After many years working alongside Loop, we’re delighted that they will now be a part of the Matchroom Group and look forward to joining forces to grow our production services.

“We have always been impressed by their progressive approach to producing quality live productions for both OTT and linear platforms and are excited to push on together with more broadcasts.”

Following news that Matchroom Boxing had reached a “record-breaking” deal with DAZN to replace Sky as the promotion company’s exclusive UK broadcaster earlier this week, it was reported that Eddie Hearn would succeed his father Barry Hearn OBE as Chairman of the Matchroom brand upon his retirement.

Nick Oldfield, Loop’s Head of Production, will take over as Managing Director following the acquisition.
