Social betting app ‘Football Survivor’ was released, adding the fan’s favourite game ‘killer – last man standing’ to soccer pools.
Social media entrepreneur Olly Joshi, the former founder of betting group and the ‘WantMyBet’ football channel of YouTube, has created the Mobile app.
Football Survivor is a simple knockout game for football pools that sees players choose one team to win in a single Premier League gameweek, with correct choices progressing to the next matchday and removing incorrect picks.
Players can only pick a team once, so they have to be clever in their choices to become the last man standing and win the prize pot of entry fees for their league.
Joshi, launching Football Survivor, says he’s trying to put a ‘office classic into the digital space,’ making it easier for players to join, while also offering a forum for emerging Last Man Standing pool leagues groups.
Although the structure of Football Survivor can seem rather simplistic, Joshi claims that it is the most enticing dynamic of the game in which the app aims to connect with new football audiences on social media apps such as Whatsapp and TikTok.
Therefore, game simplicity is recognised as the main component of communicating with younger audiences, where Joshi emphasises that a ‘instant one pick, one reaction format is vital to driving app engagement.’
“The football betting sector is heavily saturated with game mechanics that haven’t seen a great amount of innovation for a long time, and will be unappealing to Gen-Z consumers,” Joshi said.
“Football Survivor is offering a fresh reactive take on Football betting. We’re taking betting back to basics with one pick, strategy lead, quick and easy to play game. In doing so we hope to bring down barriers to entry and appeal to a wider football fan audiences.”
