Jdigital Signs Collaborative Agreement With FEJAR

A ‘collaborative agreement’ with Spanish problem-gambling therapist FEJAR has been signed by Jdigital, which will see its members endorse a new free phone helpline (tel- 900 533 025) for recovery assistance through their digital inventories.

‘First step trial’

The Spanish online gambling business association has announced that eight of its members, Codere, Ebingo, Entain, Flutter, Sisal, Sportium, Wanabet and Winamax, have launched the ‘first step trial’ of a new FEJAR-managed free phone gambling support helpline.

FEJAR is regarded as the longest-serving rehabilitation society in Spain specialising in the treatment of addiction to gambling and its compulsive behaviour.

Jdigital president Andrea Vota said: “We are very proud of joining forces with Fejar in the fight against problematic gambling in Spain.”

Vota noted that representatives of Jdigital had not hesitated to support the new FEJAR helpline as a tool to strengthen the safety of disadvantaged players and safeguard the services of operators.

“Our members have a strong commitment to their users and society in general, as well as with our goal of promoting safe and responsible environments for online gambling activity as a responsible form of entertainment,” Vota added.

Independent reports on the success

Jdigital stressed that it would be entirely honest in its relationship with FEJAR, with its partner releasing independent reports on the success and growth of the helpline.

Furthermore, the promotion of FEJAR’s new helpline meets safer gambling standards imposed by the new duties of the ‘Royal Decree on Responsible Gambling’-as licenced operators need to provide direct links to safer gambling information services.

The FEJAR Helpline will be staffed by practitioners certified by a rehabilitation society, who will refer callers for specialised care to the regional health service in Spain.

The organisation confirmed that it was willing to share its data on the helpline with the national health service of Spain and other research organisations on healthcare and addiction.

Maxi Gutiérrez, Fejar’s president, explained: “The first phone number to be launched in collaboration with the Spanish online gambling association. We are pleased to have signed this agreement with Jdigital and some of the main online gambling companies in the country, because it highlights the importance of joining efforts on the fight against problematic gambling, a task that has been Fejar’s main goal since its foundation in 1991.”
