Intralot Announce Collaboration With IT Giant Microsoft

Intralot, the Greek gaming operator and lottery provider, has announced a collaboration with Microsoft, the IT giant. In order to expand digital capability, the deal would see them deploy the tech brand’s platform.

The operator will most likely use the Microsoft Azure cloud platform to power its Intralot Orion online and retail lottery solution and sports betting product, Lotos X.

Intralot, which recently reached an agreement with Evolution Gaming, undertook a strategic overhaul in 2019 of its business processes and solutions  and the company is switching to a cloud-based operating model as part of it. They have also divested non-core properties in Italy, Greece and Poland, such as B2C operations.

Chris Dimitriadis, Chief Executive Officer, Intralot Group, said: “Lotos X and Intralot Orion are designed for building ecosystems around them, for rapidly achieving a diversified portfolio of gaming offerings, and for scaling to meet the new demand created by players and operators.”

He added that the company’s Microsoft Azure goods open up the way for gaming operators to have an infinite range of opportunities.

For the first half of 2020, Intralot announced a 55.5 percent annual decline in sales earlier this month. In Bulgaria and Turkey, their B2B and B2C operations have suffered.

In the six months to 30 June, sales dropped to EUR 168.2 m (£154.1m/$197.4 m) with sales from the licenced operations (B2C) division of Intralot dropping 74.9 percent to EUR 57.7 m.

In the B2B group, revenue from government management contracts decreased by 73.2 percent to EUR 11.8 million, while revenue from B2B technology and support services decreased by 5.5 percent to EUR 98.8 million.

Gross gaming revenue was down 38.8 percent to EUR 133.5 m, including B2B contributions and licenced operations revenue minus player winnings.

In July, Intralot signed a strategic partnership agreement with Evolution Gaming that will provide Intralot with live dealer content across the international locations of the company, which has recently expanded its African presence.

The live dealer games, including Game Show names, Crazy Time, Mega Ball and Lightning Roulette, will be launched on existing Intralot platforms with some of the best items from their live dealer portfolio.

Sebastian Johannisson of Evolution has said that the organisation is “delighted and honoured to partner with Intralot, a leading player in the gaming world.”
