IGT Global Solutions Corporation, a subsidiary of International Game Technology PLC, has expanded its lottery gaming systems deal with Washington’s Lottery to provide cutting-edge cashless lottery technology.
Washington will become the seventh U.S. state to benefit from IGT’s cashless lottery products as a result of the new agreement. IGT’s current contract will be extended through June 30, 2029 under this arrangement.
Hardware and software improvements
The Washington Lottery is a pioneer in the use of self-service vending machines in the United States, with lottery machines accounting for 45 percent of its total retail offering. IGT will make hardware and software improvements to give cashless capabilities to 2,000 lottery vending machines.
Customers of the Washington Lottery will be able to purchase lottery products with debit cards at lottery retailers across the state using GameTouchTM 24, IGT’s GameTouchTM 28, and GameTouchTM 20 self-service vending machines.
Ever-evolving lottery landscape
Marcus Glasper, Washington’s Lottery Director, commenting of the new milestone said: “Washington’s Lottery has relied on IGT’s trusted partnership and forward-thinking expertise for more than 25 years. Within that time, IGT has helped us navigate the ever-evolving lottery landscape and provide us with innovative solutions to consistently engage new players.
“The addition of cashless functionality on self-service machines is another chapter in our development, and allows players to have a flexible, convenient, and secure way to purchase their favourite lottery games.”
Jay Gendron, IGT’s Chief Operating Officer for Lottery, claims that the IGT has a full understanding of success-driving goods, and that Washington’s Lottery should assist them in achieving their business objectives. Since the beginning of the current contract in 2016, they have worked with the Lottery to increase yearly lottery sales by 37 percent, bringing total sales to $950 million in the most recent fiscal year.
They will continue to support the Washington Lottery in its efforts to increase funds for good causes, as well as the Washington Opportunity Pathways Account, which provides educational initiatives throughout the state as well as enjoyable and responsible solutions for its users.
