Hipódromo de Palermo in Buenos Aires Enter Online Gambling Industry

The Hipódromo de Palermo in Buenos Aires has formally entered the local online gambling industry, launching its betfun website on March 19 with the approval of the gambling regulator Lotera de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires (LOTBA).

The Palermo racecourse will, according to an official statement, sell “the latest technologies” in “hundreds of slot games.”

Personalised experience with a high level of security

It was stated: “Betfun invites you to live a personalised experience with a high level of security, transparency, an easy registration and accessibility from any mobile device.”

Instant Roulette, Chilli Heat, First Person Roulette, Asgard, 9 Masks of Fire, and Arena of Gold are currently available on the website, with high stakes and progressive jackpots.

The racecourse sent its application to LOTBA in mid-2020 as part of the financial rehabilitation plan placed in motion by the authorities after more than five months of no action due to COVID-19.

‘A key tool’

Fernando Facal, the manager of the Hipódromo de Palermo, said in a September 2020 interview with SBC Noticias that betfun is “a key tool not only to reactivate the racecourse, but also to give fans better security and agility to be able to play from their homes, under the guidelines of the Responsible Gaming program. In addition, it would also tackle illegal and excessive gambling.”

The Argentinian turf industry presently employs 70,000 people directly and indirectly, with the Hipódromo de Palermo directly employing 2,000 people and indirectly employing over 20,000.
