GVC Retains DJSI Membership For Sustainability

After the betting company maintained its status as a member of the Dow Jones Sustainability Index for Europe (DJSI), GVC Holdings affirmed its commitment to responsible transactions.

Launched in 1999, the DJSI represents the ‘gold standard for corporate sustainability, tracking leading sustainability-driven companies based on analysis of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors as well as S&P DJI’s robust index methodology’.

GVC Chief Governance Officer Robert Hoskin stated: “Last week in unveiling our Sustainability Charter, recognising that the most successful companies are the most sustainable.

“We are committed to pursuing the highest standards of corporate governance, providing outstanding career development opportunities for our colleagues and to supporting the communities in which we operate. We are delighted to have this commitment recognised through our continued membership of the DJSI.”

The recognition also reaffirms GVC’s commitment to enforcing its latest Sustainability Charter, which was published on 12 November, as the only European gambling group listed in the index.

Companies undergo review to become a member of the DJSI, which looks at an average of 600 data points per organisation in one total score that decides index inclusion.

The study looks at an average of 600 data points per organisation using a standardised, rules-based approach into one total score to assess index inclusion. Within the index, GVC is the sole European gambling party.

GVC has maintained its status as a constituent member of the ‘FTSE4Good Index’ in fulfilling its CSR mandate, as well as independently checking its global carbon emissions by the Carbon Trust.

Manjit Jus, S&P Global Global Global Head of ESG Analysis and Data, added: “We congratulate GVC for being included in the DJSI. A DJSI distinction is a reflection of being a sustainability leader in your industry.

“With a record number of companies participating in the 2020 Corporate Sustainability Assessment and more stringent rules for inclusion this year, this sets GVC apart and rewards your continued commitment to people and the planet.”
