Eyas Gaming was founded by a team of veterans of the online gambling industry with the help of the Gauselmann Community, with the primary aim of targeting the newly controlled German online gambling market.
Joe Saumarez-Smith (Chairman), Michael Brady (Chief Executive Officer) and Adam Joseph (Chief Operations Officer) will work together to establish the offering of online gaming, with an initial launch pencilled in July 2021 to open the fully controlled German market.
Saumarez Smith said of the ambitions for Eyas Gaming said: “The regulation of the German market is a very exciting time and a huge opportunity for us.
“The proposed rules for the German market will present some big challenges for all operators but we think that we will be able to build a market-leading product with Merkur that is specific to the German market and the new regulatory regime.”
Backed by German gaming giant Gauselmann, Eyas Gaming will use the Bede Gaming network, which the company acquired in March 2020, for all of its operations. Merkur online slots games from Gauselmann’s Blueprint and Edict divisions will be provided by the igaming entity.
Eyas Gaming has its head office in Malta and is currently applying for a licence from the Malta Gaming Authority. As soon as such an opportunity is made open, they can also apply for a German online gambling licence.
The founder and CEO of the Gauselmann Group, Paul Gauselmann, added: “I am thrilled about this collaboration. The operational experience of our partners in conjunction with our technological platform as well as our renowned Merkur games will enable us to successfully establish online offerings in Germany and other regulated markets.”
It was said that the purchase of a ‘significant majority stake’ in Bede Gaming was done with one eye on the future, as Gauselmann indicated at the time that the investment created new possibilities ahead of next year’s opening of the German online gaming market.
