Publishing its monthly update, UK problem gambling assistance and therapy charity GamCare, reminds its betting sector and national health stakeholders that the’ National Gambling Helpline’ will operate as a 24-hour service from 1 October 2019 onwards.
The National Gambling Helpline (0808 8020 133) is updating its 8am-to-midnight working timetable, transforming it into a 24-hour support system certified by’ UK Helplines ‘ accessible every day of the year.
Thanks to the funding provided by GambleAware, GamCare is able to extend its support functions, enabling the charity to operate its helpline as a’ two-year pilot scheme’ with the aim of providing instant round – the-clock support to anyone affected by problem gambling throughout the UK.
The UK charity reminds stakeholders that its advisory group is trained to further assist the victims of problem gambling family and friends, offering guidance and therapy and support alternatives across local societies, internet or over the internet.
In its update, GamCare stated its dedication to help the freshly created NHS Northern Gambling Service support therapy and study center opened in Leeds this September, aimed at upgrading problem gambling support networks across the nation.
