In a bid to draw business in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut is developing a gaming area exclusively for gamblers aged over 55.
The text in the commercial for the business reads: “It’s time to let the grown-ups play! The safe, sanitised and socially distanced Rainmaker Casino at Foxwoods is exclusively for guests 55 plus from 10am to midnight every weekend in November!” Adding it would play 80 ‘s music in the room and that during happy hour, customers could enjoy free cocktails.
Foxwoods’ interim CEO and SVP of resort operations, Jason Guyot, said: “As part of our commitment to providing an unmatched experience for our guests, we are thrilled to introduce this new offering for guests ages 55 and older,”
“The safety of our loyal patrons has been our number one priority since reopening, and we are excited to offer them this exclusive experience where they can relax and play in a safe, frequently sanitized environment.”
Foxwoods is a tribal casino, so it is not subject to state-ordered health policies faced by others during the pandemic, but the casino is still running at a capacity of 25 percent.
As a consequence of the pandemic, the casino ‘s profits have suffered. In September, sales fell year-on-year by 20 per cent.
