José Antonio Ortiz Báez, President of the’ National Gambling Commission’ of Conajzar Paraguay, revealed that four companies are currently competing to become the’ Paraguay Quiniela’ (National Lottery) new operating company.
Ortiz Báez announced that tendering documents were approved by the national competitors Paraguay TDP, Consorcio B Gaming and Daruma SA, together with’ IGT International Holdings’ as the only international company bidding for the lottery contract.
Paraguay TDP currently runs the Quiniela daily. Nonetheless, the new lottery incumbent of Conajzar faces tough competition from Daruma SA-Paraguay’s former sportsbook monopoly ‘ Apostola’ operating company.
In the meantime, IGT Foreign Holdings is the Colombian affiliate of Nasdaq-listed gaming technology group IGT Plc, registered in South America.
Currently little is known about the third Quiniela suitor Consorcio B Gaming and its operating capabilities in the lottery.
Conajzar’s updating of stakeholders outlined that it would push to open a three-month window in which all four competing incumbents are required to submit formal proposals.
Ortiz Báez decided not to disclose details about tendering processes and further timetable arrangements in its update. The Conajzar leader, however, stressed that the Paraguay Quiniela must be run using its existing retail terminals.
