Yesterday, DFS and sportsbook operator FanDuel Group moved quick in summing up some of the headline betting figures to emerge from the Super Bowl LV action over the weekend. Whilst final numbers are subject to change, they make reading interesting.
The firm released a statement Sunday, noting: “Brady to Gronkowski delivered a championship win to the city of Tampa and to FanDuel Group customers tonight. The night started off with $1.7m paid out to FanDuel Sportsbook customers when the opening coin toss landed on HEADS.
“Gronkowski’s first touchdown paid out $3.1m to customers that selected the Tight End in the First TD Scorer market and paid out another $650k to customers when Gronkowski scored his second TD.”
Customers had a ‘great win’
According to FanDuel, new customers have had a “great night” with the domination of Tampa as they recovered $17m as part of the 55-1 deal from FanDuel Sportsbook. “Overall, the Tampa win and cover of the +3 spread paid out more than $27m to FanDuel customers in pre-match betting on the core Spread and Money Line markets,” said the firm.
Sportsbook app third most Apple Store download
The company also reported that, behind only TikTok and Robinhood, its FanDuel Sportsbook app was the third most downloaded app in the Apple Store yesterday. “In addition, Fox’s Super Six and FanDuel’s Big Game Bingo had approximately two million free-to-play entries across our FanDuel Group Properties,” it confirmed.
FanDuel advised that during the evening, in-play wagers, prop bets and parlays could be measured and paid out to customers, which would impact the final numbers.
