FanDuel Links Up With Washington Football Team In Virginia

This week, FanDuel Group and the Washington Football Team revealed what they say is the first-ever market access agreement between a team from the National Football League and a US online sports gaming site.

The alliance

Under the terms of the contract, last week in the Commonwealth of Virginia, FanDuel and the Washington Football Team launched legal sports betting. The alliance blends the sports betting network of the FanDuel Group with the involvement of the Washington Football Team in Virginia as it acts as the house for the INOVA Sports Performance Center, Richmond Training Camp, and the headquarters of the team.

In the United States, Virginia became the ninth state where iOS and Android will have the FanDuel Sportsbook open.

Matt King, FanDuel Group’s CEO, noted: “We are excited to bring America’s #1 sportsbook to residents and visitors to the Commonwealth of Virginia. We’re honoured to partner with an iconic sports franchise and we plan to deliver the most fan-focused, and secure, mobile sports betting experience to the passionate sports fans of Virginia.”

The Washington Football Team was given priority under Virginia’s sports wagering law for a mobile sports betting permit based on it meeting certain requirements for sports franchises headquartered in the state and the option to partner with an existing sports wagering operator to operate the business.

Organisational partner

The FanDuel Sportsbook was selected by the Washington Football Team as its organisational partner to jointly hold the permit.

Scott Shepherd, Corporate Partnerships & Hospitality Senior Vice President for the Washington Football Team, added: “When this truly unique opportunity presented itself, it was a natural fit to strategically align with our long-time partner, FanDuel, as we knew they’d establish a best in class sports betting marketplace, grounded by innovation and consumer protection.

“We’re very excited for all this ground-breaking partnership will offer our valued fans throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia as part of their game day experience.”
